Day 2 of 7 Days of Decluttering
recognizing how my possessions effect me
Today, let’s bring awareness to the stuff that clutters our environment and how it really affects us so we can let go of attachments to the past and anxiety for the future.
Affirmation1 minI am aware of my environment and the objects within it. I recognize the difference between the possessions that inspire me and the things that no longer serve me. I let go of past attachments because they prevent me from living fully and creating the lifestyle I want. I feel less stress and anxiety about the ‘maybes’ of the future by releasing objects I have held on to “just in case.” As a result, I am more resourceful and enthusiastic at the present moment.
Deep Dive5 minsThe process of decluttering is actually quite simple, it’s the deeper reality of our attachments to the past or anxiety for the future that takes away from experiencing inspiration in the present moment from a clutter-free home.
Mantra10 secsA clean space creates a clear mind.
Micro Challenge3 minsLook around your environment with curiosity. We won’t worry ourselves with getting rid of anything right now. Just begin to recognize more deeply what kind of things you’ve surrounded yourself with over the years. As we prepare for our Great Purge, in three more days, it’s important to recognize the things we own and the emotions that arise while appreciating the relationship we have with them. Realize that each of our items exists here and now as a result of choices made in the past by no one other than ourselves. It’s dangerous to ignore them or to discard them indiscriminately as if denying the choices we made.
Pro Tip2 minsYour possessions very accurately relate the history of the decisions we have made in life.
Journal Prompt5 minsAttachment to the past and fears concerning the future not only govern the way you select the things you own but also represent the criteria by which you make choices in every aspect of your life
