  1. When I reflect on these bigger things that I am grateful for they bring me joy because they provide me with love, connection and deeper understanding of compassion. I feel so much gratitude to have these things in my life and so much appreciation. It helps me to understand that I am taken care of and the Universe has my back.

  2. It brings me joy when I think about not having these things in my life. It allows me to feel appreciation when I reflect on what it would be like to not have these things and people in my life and then I am filled with gratitude in that moment.

  3. My biggest things that I am grateful for bring me joy in that I am relieved of suffering because of them. Having a home to live in, food to eat etc… They do not necessarily bring me joy but a sense of contentment.

  4. What brings me joy is seeing that others are joyful and content as well…my pets, my family, my peers, my students, my friends. My desire is to spread myself to others the joy of living with mindful intention, wonder at the world and its beauty, and awe of our beautiful world and all its inhabitants. Taking care of myself is not selfish, because it helps me to take care of others much more easily and with a greater, deeper impact.

When I live in the now, I have a deeper appreciation for what I see around me, what is in front of my face. The moment by moment beauty and wonder and excitement of what is around me is what I need to focus more on, instead of worrying about the future and/or living in the past.

It has been a great joy to become a student of mindfulness, and its great implications and power for the world—it does not matter whether you are a Christian, Jew, Muslim, Buddhist, etc. All religious and non-religious people can agree on the tenets of mindfulness and how to be mindful stewards of our world. My spirit is at rest, my productivity has thrived, and my desire to assist others has skyrocketed–even while I have more time for contemplation and taking care of myself at the same time.

  5. The consistency of these elements in my life – not only help me become a better person each and every day…but they push me to gain realistic power so that I can identify the problems…and more importantly find the solutions in order for me to change my life and become exactly who I want to be (in the words of Tony Robbins)

  6. The things I appreciate most bring me joy because they allow me to appreciate the beauty of the present moment.

Without getting caught up in the past, or worried about the future, I am able to enjoy my family, my friends, my health, and my belongings.

My spirituality resides in this fundamental appreciation, as I feel so blessed in this lifetime for all that I have been able to experience. Those experiences are what led me to all the things that give me so much joy now.
