  1. To me the middle of the word belief contains the word โ€œlieโ€. So many of our beliefs cause pain and suffering to others. Our beliefs are also stories that we tell ourselves in order to get through hard times and celebrate good ones. I am not a fan of the word belief or believe, I prefer moral compass instead.

  2. As far as values and morals, i think they are based on unhealthy motives such as fear, making sure no one gets mad at me. My beliefs have changed a lot over the years, but I always believed in a God that loves me. In some ways I’ve come full circle from Christian to something different, back to maybe where I started. In other ways I feel like I’m starting back at square one.

  3. I recognize a lot of positive beliefs and a lot of beliefs that hold me back. Both have gotten me to where I am, and acknowledging my beliefs can allow me to change them and move forward.

  4. I have a strong faith in a loving and forgiving God and today I value integrity, love, compassion, equanimity, peace, & solitude. I don’t always have to be right, money isn’t what makes me rich, and I am learning to stop being so self-centred.

  5. When I was 27 I found myself alone with a little boy I was responsible for. My life had fallen apart due to so many bad choices that I made. I heard the story of how Jesus died for all my mistakes and weaknesses and for the first time I started reading the New Testament. I fell in love with Jesus and asked Him to take over my life. He did! I felt and feel such love now. He is my plub-line. I’ve made lots of mistakes through the year, and will continue to do so. But knowing that God loves me and took all my mistakes and payed for them is wonderful! I’m so grateful and His presence, love, peace and guidance.

  6. How interesting, today I went to Mass. It is Christmas for me and many. I grew up in a time when Catholic Schools scared you more than made you want to feel wonderful in our belief as a Christian. Today, I feel different, maybe my age, maybe all the loss that I have gone through and having faith in my belief. Or maybe I just know what I feel is most important to me. Today, I feel good about what I believe in. Years ago, when I was young, I did not feel the same. Guilt did not help me. I do not feel it helps any of us, so many of us walk around with guilt, feeling badly for so much of what is normal but we were told it wasn’t. I am still working on some of what I was brought up to believe vs. what I feel is right today. But am grateful for faith.

  7. i believe in a lot of things. i believe in god, i believe in magick, heck i even believe in santa, and im going on 27! its the meaning behind it that really matters. if i never held close my beliefs in those things i wouldnt be the person i am today.

  8. The great part about my beliefs is how much more defined they have become in the last year or so. I have always believed in the concept of God. I just really had a hard time labeling it for awhile there. Of course I don’t know everything, but there is such comfort in truly feeling loved and supported by something greater than you.

How have my beliefs guided me? Well they pretty much inform every move/decision I make. Like for example about an hour ago when my roommate snapped at me just for fun. I decided to breathe deeply and realize that we are both stressed (rather than snapping back).
