CONNECTED – MICRO CHALLENGE

Today, send some subtle gratitude to the community that means the most to you.

Belonging to a community and enjoying the benefits of that connection brings us to another great source of gratitude. We often forget that, essentially, all of us are social beings and we feel good about being a part of a group, a part of something greater than ourselves. Gathering around mutual mission, principles, and goals gives us a chance to identify with positive values and develop a resourceful, adaptable identity. With that in mind, let us look at some ways you can intentionally send some subtle gratitude to the community that means the most to you today:

If you are employed, bring some coffee to your office and share it with your colleagues. In case you would like to do something more meaningful, you can approach the person you appreciate the most at your workplace and pay him/her a compliment related to their talent, skill, or strength that you admire.

The same goes if you are a student. Bring and offer something your classmates might enjoy (it can be coffee, sweets, a sincere thank you or a simple compliment). If it happens that on the day you won't be meeting anyone in person, go online to “your tribe” and offer a few kind comments to your favorite members of the group.

When you're done expressing your gratitude make sure to take a moment to write down your thoughts and feelings about the generous actions you took today and the responses they created.
