Today, write a clear, personal purpose-driven statement.

Everyone experiences times of transitions throughout their lives. Time of uncertainty that we’re doing what we really should be doing. What matters most in these moments is to be patient, lean into what inspires us, and trust the process. Surrender to the fact that everything will work out in the end and that the most healthy use of our attention and time is to do the most with what we currently have.

Everyone, every day can wake up and decide to live with purpose. It need only take a few minutes (seconds even) to listen to our intuition, trust ourselves, set our intention, and journey on.

Defining Your Purpose:

The Best Possible Future Self Exercise, by Dr Laura King has been shown to improve overall happiness, reduce goal conflict, adopt healthier lifestyle habits (just to name a few benefits).

… this is going to be fun …

STEP 1:

Imagine the following as vividly as you can:

“There you are in the future, you are 103 years old—you’re a centurion! Everything has gone as well as it possibly could. You worked hard and succeeded at accomplishing your most important life goals. Think of this as the realization of all of your life dreams.”

Now, write about what you imagined—without inhibition or self-editing.

For effective results, complete STEP 1 before moving on to STEP 2.

STEP 2:

Now with the same lucid imagination, picture this:

“Imagine that your 103-year-old self hops into a time machine (thanks to Elon Musk’s son). You jump into that time machine and arrived at this very moment in time. Future you climbs out, sits next to yourself and begins to give you life-altering advice.”

What does future you say? Continue writing down everything—let it flow!

… time for the good stuff …

STEP 3:

Now take that advice and create a list of actions points from it. Simply remind yourself of those top three action points every day. That’s it, you’re on your way towards a more fulfilling, purpose-driven life!

What will begin to emerge is what gives your life some sense of meaning. But it is crucial that you spend time articulating a series of ‘today-steps’ that give you direct ways to begin to implement your meaning and purpose.

So give it a try and with your set of actions, ensure that today you can begin living and moving towards a more fulfilling, purpose-lead life.
