So often we are afraid. We are afraid to love, to take a chance. We are afraid of being hurt. We are afraid to make a mistake. We are afraid to break-up. We are afraid to be alone. We are afraid of being vulnerable, the one thing that ironically promotes connection and a sense of being loved.

Our fear is so often, the result of inaction. We become afraid of experiencing what we are afraid of, weighing the pros and cons of our options over and and over again…driving ourselves crazy in the process. Compounding fear on top of our fear, adds to a potent sense of distress.

But what if we didn't have to be so afraid? What if, just for the sheer fact being resilient is a natural ability of human beings…that humans tend to bound back when faced with difficulty, we we're free to really live. To take chances. To listen to our inner wisdom. To let that intuition guide our intellect, instead of the other way around…Instead of making up excuses and rationalizations to ignore our heart, our gut, our personal truth.

In her bestselling book, A Return to Love, Marianne Williamson states that the opposite of love is not hate. It is fear. “Every situation we find ourselves in is an opportunity…to teach love instead of fear.” Marianne even goes so far as to define a miracle as a shift from fear to love.

When we look at our lives through the lens of growth and love, we realize that our purported mistakes and our fears for the future, do not represent deep-seated character flaws. We compassionately acknowledge our humanness and realize our fears are not so scary after all (especially because many of them never even come true).

When we put our attention on to our innate ability to be resilient and to have creative insight, our minds get less busy, less noisy and less preoccupied with our fears. When the mind becomes more quiet, we realize that the space of love, intuition, and creative insight is there (just as it has always been there), ready to support us on our journey and deliver up the experience of resilience.
