Today, letโ€™s address issues of constant comparison, envy, and jealousy head on.

  1. Iโ€™d like to say that Iโ€™m happy with myself and who I am. I donโ€™t want to be anyone else or have anyone elseโ€™s life. Of course there are times Iโ€™d love a little extra money but that money would be for my family to vacation more together not really for me personally. I think for me and my personality that this isnโ€™t a struggle. Iโ€™m content with me.

  2. Bring about low self esteem, negative outlook on life & not being able to be the person I would like to be and self doubt, I think are some factors that play into the spell of feeling not enough of envy, comparison and jealousy.

  3. Not enough makes me think I need more. Not enough makes me want what others have because it would make me happier or more complete. But in fact, letting go of these not enough fears and insecurities is what will make me happier and more complete.

  4. I disagree with Dr. Nicole Beasely’s last remark that, ‘Thinking is the cause of suffering.’ It is meditating on negative thoughts that cause suffering. We can choose to meditate on beautiful things.

  5. I’m normally pretty good with these, what I am hopeful for is a better feeling with my work. I’m not respected, I’ve dealt with this because of my life and all the challenges I had been blessed with. Now, it’s my time to make that change. I need to get my age out of my head.

  6. This is the first day that I’m commenting.

While all of these discussions have been incredibly good, this particular one has hit me deeply. The idea that our feelings are transitory and not necessarily real is something that I’ve heard before. But somehow this time I get it. The fact that we are all feeling broken and it’s come from a place of lack of connection, the fact that we are all searching for something deeper. All of this seems to feel so connected. I wish I could explain how liberating this feeling is, and I don’t know if I’m doing a good job at it. There is something amazing about the going deeper section, the way this journey has all that up to this, and the way it just started popping ideas into my head, it’s just freeing. Hopefully I’ll be able to describe this better later.

    Thank you!

  7. It is when I am in a toxic relationship that these feelings of not enough emerge. That is when jealousy came into the picture. Amazingly enough, since I left that long term relationship just 2 months ago, I have no issues with jealousy. I feel secure in myself and have no problem being happy for or appreciating what another has to offer. It does not take away from me in any way. I have learned a huge lesson here.

  8. I was so jealous of a friend of mine. he is younger, (mid-twenties) more agile, stronger, and has the love of a very special friend of ours.

I felt so angry that I was on the decline, age was catching up with me, to where I could no longer keep up with him, or any other twenty something, (I’m turning 50 in March)

It almost cost me two friendships. the damage is slow to repair, but with jealousy out of the picture, I see now that he was challenging me to keep pushing myself, not trying to rub it in that I was getting old.

  9. It’s crazy because I really do notice an abrupt shift when ever I do catch myself getting caught up in these thoughts. This happens more often than I like to admit. The spell of “not enough” plays into issues of constant comparison, jealousy and envy because it convinces us that we aren’t whole as we are. We are looking for our validation in our thoughts of others rather than knowing and believing and trusting in ourselves and all of the incredible things we have to offer.
