I am balanced

Day 20 – BALANCED

1 min

In order to find balance in our outward life, we first must seek balance inwardly. So today we practice using the good ol' tool of the breath while embracing opposition to find sustainable inward balance.

  1. I used to think that everything was either really good or really bad and there was no middle… but now I can see that things are just what they are and sometimes, you don’t have to judge it and just let it be because you won’t change the positivity or negativity side of it

  2. I can breathe deep and realise that I’m not alone, I have a team supporting me and it will all get done… one step at a time. I often lose sight of that, and then beat myself up. But instead I need to let my own expectations of myself go… and just trust that it will happen and get done, the exact way its meant to.

  3. I tend to think through something, get to what I think is a resolution and then I think about the resolution and everything that may be good or bad and so on. I want to make good decisions but the fact that I keep thinking about it begins to make me doubt myself. I need to try to make the best decision at the time and know I will deal with something down the road if I need to.

  4. I need to get back into an exercise routine. I was doing very well, swimming on a regular basis, until I got backed up with some important deadlines during the winter. And, after the winter (and the deadlines) were over, my motivation stinks. Once I resume my schedule, it will become joyful to swim again. It relaxes me, enables me to meditate while swimming (nothing like a twofer special!), and allows me to commune with nature at the same time (the nature is the water–I am not skinny dipping somewhere!:).

  5. When I feel unnerved by situations not directly under my control, I need to step back, practice my breathing, and realize that the emotions I am feeling are real, but not founded. Practicing mindful meditation while I am going through times of struggle enables me to name and conquer the thoughts and emotions that hamper me.

  6. I find myself some days lacking the motivation to workout, and other days feeling extremely motivated and prepared to work out. This leads to an inconsistency on how often I workout, though I should be doing it most days. I need to find some source to motivate me in the morning to get up and do what’s right for my body.

  7. Try to stay present in the moment… not think about what was or what might be, but simply what is. Stay true to myself and have confidence in what I know and what I believe.

  8. I could be more present, a simple thing would be to stop using my phone as much, and really take in everything that is happening around me. It is okay to be connected with my friends and what is happening around the world, but also disconnecting from this moment is something I could work on.
