I am present

Day 1 – PRESENT

1 min

The first step in living mindfully is to settle back into the present moment and quiet the mind of its constant chatter. From this place of peaceful presence, we have an amazing opportunity to live with more intention and awareness. But first, we must become very clear.

  1. I tend to think incomplete thoughts about my continuous to-do list. I allow the thoughts to occur enough to stress me out but not enough that I put forth enough energy to solve the problem or complete the task. It’s a vicious cycle. I also think of my children and any areas I have come up short for them. Then, I scold myself for placing unrealistic expectations on myself and remind my mind to be kind to its human counterpart. I am also a visionary so I am nearly constantly pondering solutions to larger problems and allowing my creativity to be spontaneous and interrupt my thoughts. I am working to carry a notebook with me at all times so that I can write those ideas down quickly to allow myself to clear my mind and become present again without the fear of forgetting all of my “million dollar ideas.” I guess I allow fear to consume me when I allow my mind to wander.

  2. My partner and why we are going through this rough time- kicking myself for what I put him through (even though my anxiety took me there)- struggling in knowing if this is what I want- will he contact me today- will we have a future- why doesnโ€™t he contact me

  3. I spend a lot of time thinking about my past. Hoping that things were different, or romanticizing it. I hope for futures that would make up for past mistakes. Or I am anxious, trying to control certain aspects of my life for specific outcomes.

  4. Anxious about my actions in the past, stressing out about my future.. it’s never a good thing for me and keeping myself in the present is the safest bet I have right now

  5. Thinking about the past; things that made me angry, things I should have done, or wish I had done differently. The future; goals, my ideal life, planning out conversations or arguments, anixous thoughts
