Day 19 of 30 Days of Adventure

👁 TODAY'S INTENTION
Today, let's explore simple ways to ride out fear so that we remain grounded and empowered.

💡 INSPIRATION
Fear and worry are just perspectives we've adopted, perspectives that can quickly narrow our view and hijack our sense of being. Yet, when fear sneaks in, there are mindful ways to respond that empower rather than belittle us. The strategies we'll uncover today may seem simple, but they hold immense power.
Ready to dive in and discover how to turn fear into a stepping stone for growth?
Today's Key Takeaways:
- Embrace the simplicity in returning to tranquility.
- Use mindfulness to transform fear into empowerment.
- Recognize the power of our Inner Being over our fears.

💬 ADVENTUROUS WISDOM
“Fear is a natural reaction to moving closer to the truth.”
– Pema Chödrön, an American Tibetan Buddhist, is known for her insightful teachings on fear, suffering, and compassion. Through her works, she guides us to understand that fear can be a pathway to enlightenment, encouraging us to face our fears with grace and bravery.

🥠 TRAIL SNACK
How often throughout the waking state do we allow ourselves the space to simply be empty?
When we empty ourselves, we return to our natural state of tranquility. When we release stories of fear, we are able to function through whatever it is we need to do with much more focus, relaxation, understanding, and compassion.

🧬 LAW OF NATURE
Studies have shown that mindfulness meditation can significantly reduce anxiety and stress. By focusing on the present moment and observing our thoughts and emotions without judgment, we engage the parasympathetic nervous system, promoting a state of calmness and reducing the fight-or-flight response.

📿 TRAIL MANTRA
“I am more.”
This mantra reminds us that we are more than our fears, thoughts, and emotions. We are vast beings with the capacity to observe, choose, and transcend our immediate reactions. By affirming “I am more,” we reconnect with the boundless essence of our Inner Being, beyond the limiting stories of identity.

🧘 MINDFUL MOMENT
Here is a short visualization meditation that lets us empty back into the fullness of our being.
Imagine if there were only you. Nobody else. No outside world. No appointments. No stories. The attention has nowhere to go other than to yourself. What is here when all the distractions dissolve?
By noticing and releasing whatever stories of identity arise, our attention can rest in the silence of our Inner Being—the sense of self that exists in the background of all our experiences. As we practice redirecting our attention to the stillness of our Inner Being, fears naturally fade away, anxieties soften, and worries settle.
Feel how the core of what we are is far greater than any fears that narrow this liberated perspective of our Inner Being.

✍🏼 JOURNAL PROMPTS
- Reflect on a recent situation where fear overwhelmed you.
- Write down how you reacted and how you wish you had reacted.
- Write down one small action you can take next time fear arises to respond more mindfully.

🦁 COURAGEOUS ACTION
What if a fear attack is coming in full throttle?
When fear overrides our state of being, we can consciously redirect our awareness back into our better senses. No matter how much fear, anxiety, or worry has taken over, a simple breathing exercise like the one below can free us from limiting sense of self back into a liberated state of being:
- Slowly breathe out until you come to a natural stop.
- Push out any remaining air with three more mini exhales.
- Now that all the air is out, pause for a few seconds.
- Begin to let air inspire back into your body until you are naturally full.
- Top off your breath with three more mini inhales.
- Now that all the air is in, pause for a few seconds.
- Repeat as often as needed to return to your natural state of being.
Why does this work?
When we redirect our awareness to our breath, we are practicing being more aware of the sense of self that is free from the identities, concepts, desires, or intentions that are rooted in fear. We create a sense of separateness from the beliefs and personal identities that create fear, anxiety, and worry.
When we say “I …” or “I am …”, notice how we're simply referring to our state of being or the self-assigned labels. We're referring to the consciousness of who we believe “I” to be, in the moment. Our perspective becomes clouded and limited as we attach all sorts of concepts, desires, feelings, and intentions to our identity. This makes it harder to perceive and embody the infinite and limitless “I”, who is at the core of what we really are—beyond the stories of identity.
Even just a few moments of reconnecting with our deepest sense of self can free us back into our liberated, joyful, present, loving Self. So as we adventure onward, let's mindfully and courageously connect more with the core of what “I” really is with the loving presence of our conscious awareness.
