FOCUSED Intention

Let us focus ourselves with pure intention,
for this is how we create a powerful foundation.
With mindful attention, let’s create momentum,
toward inspired purpose and determination.

As distractions try to impede our productivity,
let us remember that which ignites our creativity.
Let us align our actions with our bravest goals,
using the tools to know will feed our souls.

"The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new." – Socrates

“The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new.”

– Socrates, a classical Greek philosopher credited as one of the founders of Western philosophy, reminds us that the essence of transformation lies in our capacity to direct our energies toward creating what we aspire to be, rather than opposing what we wish to leave behind.

In today's meditation, Tony guides us through his daily morning “priming” practice.

Priming is a visualization meditation exercise that establishes a foundation of gratitude, boosts brain function, feeds the soul, and prepares the mind for a focused day ahead. It entails a quick breathing exercise while practicing gratitude, visualizing light flooding our mind and body, and sharing it with others. Finally, we celebrate ourselves and focus on three goals to achieve, picturing ourselves on the other side of success. Fully primed, we get to carry this feeling of achievement, gratitude and inspired focus into the day ahead.

Embrace the Pomodoro Technique: Set your sights on a task, and for 25 minutes, immerse yourself fully, undistracted. After, take a 5-minute break to refresh. This cycle of focused work and rest not only enhances productivity but strengthens your focus muscle, making it easier to concentrate as you continue to practice.

  1. I’ve worked hard to make peace with an abusive upraising. I’m grateful for whatever spark inside me that kept reminding me “It’s not you!” I was able to break away from the shame and carve out a better life. I am now able to be around family without getting sucked back in to old patterns.

  2. 4 days ago I signed up an online English speaking lesson and I was successfully speaking to a foreign English teacher. The feelings were so great which I never think I can do it before. Although I had the thought of signing up the online speaking lesson for such a long time, I never take action. Now, I have paid the fee for the course and I will encourage myself to continue the journey of learning English.

  3. It isn’t part of my challenge now but in July I decided I needed to get control of my health. I completely changed my eating habits. I gave up all carbohydrates, following the ketogenic diet. I didn’t think I could do it but I did.

  4. I am about to finish my first term being in an online program for my masters in MFT. I am still struggling away on one of my finals but I have the other class completed. Even a few weeks ago I was not sure that I would be able to finish these classes. My focus and determination has paid off. Now I am in the home stretch.

  5. Doing 2 double cleanse days in 9 days. Sounded hard and impossible until I decided I was doing t and focused on the success and results that it achieves. I’m now planning my next one to increase my focus and energy

  6. I recently managed to find a temporary job for the summer, something I was unable to do last year. I committed myself to finding a job as much as I possibly could. It was potentially a bigger deal to me this year because I just finished college and I wanted to prove to myself that I could find work without benefits like already attending the school that also hired me on as an employee or getting a job at one of my parents’ offices based on their recommendations. I don’t know if I was able to present myself in a way that made me more attractive to potential employers, if lowering my standards for the jobs I was willing to work allowed me to find one that would take me on, or if I just got lucky. One way or another, I was able to direct enough energy into this task to accomplish it successfully.

  7. I simply saw disappear all the fears organised concerns on whether an approach was the best or appropriate and all I saw were opportunities to move forward

  8. Something I’ve achieved that I previously thought impossible? Well, I’ve moved across the world and have somewhat established and grounded myself over here in London (the city of my roots… I was born here). But if I really think about, a recent achievement that comes to mind is my writing. I have known that I am writer for years, but for so long I wasn’t really listening on paying attention. Now, I just get so much joy from it, and it really helps me to sort through my thoughts. So the achievement is embracing my writing and the start of two different books. Still not entirely sure where it’s going, but I’ve learned so much about myself on the journey so far, and am excited to share it once it’s ready.

  9. I did a 31 day writing challenge where I posted something new on my blog everyday. I was struggling with finding time to write daily, and I was afraid of posting unfinished/rough things for others to see… and I felt like everything was rough.

But, I did it. 31 days of poems, short stories, and blog entries every day. And I found that not only were my ideas and creativity abundant, but the more I did it, the fear slowly subsided. Instead of manically worrying and checking over my work that I posted and feeling the need to edit, I got better at just letting things be what they were, and moving on.I felt so good after completing that, even though when I first started it, I thought there was no way I was going to be able to stick to it.
