HUMBLE – DEEP DIVE

Humility associates with a high sense of purpose, harmony, and contribution. It positively impacts health, relationships, businesses, and entire communities. It’s for the good of everyone, not just the humble individual. Similar to generosity, humility is one of the most helpful pro-social attitudes that both requires and supports mind mastery.

The capacity for humility is significantly reduced by our bias. Like every other human being, we tend to judge and create prejudice towards others. There is nothing wrong with that. It’s human nature to have judgments. Luckily, as humans, we also can control the way we respond to those kinds of thoughts.

To remedy the destructive power of prejudice and honor your humble side, we invite you to identify an area of diversity that you struggle with. For example, you might be more inclined to judge celebrities, people with disabilities, members of another race, etc. Once your mind is made up, make sure to find a way to connect to people who belong to your chosen area of diversity. It doesn’t have to be direct contact, watching a YouTube video featuring such a person in an interview is a good start.

Example: Let’s say you hold a belief that celebrities are shallow and materialistic, so you go and find a video where a celebrity talks about his or her life journey. You stay engaged and openly listen even if you feel like it’s a waste of time. While you listen, focus specifically on the similarities you have with that celebrity and write those down on a piece of paper.
