Where there is light there is shadow. Where there is shadow there needs to be light. I think the acceptance of this duality enables us to a peace with what is and what is not. It is disillusioning and freeing us up of the entanglements of living. Whenever something is to our dislike we can focus on the positive sides and voila! It seems less dark and easier to cope with.
Wisdom is practical knowledge in the art of living. Acceptance is a huge contribution to our lives quality and therefore wise.
Accepting life’s duality makes me a wiser person by choosing and believing how to understand different experiences and process different aspects in my life such as friends, family, situations, environment, materials, culture, communication, learning about myself and etc..
I think there are certain events that have happened in the world that are definitely bad, not that these things have happened to me. The Holocaust is one example. Most negative experiences I have faced in my life had a silver lining even if it was not visible at the time.
I’ve learned so many lessons working through things that I had previously defined as “bad” – life really is a beautiful balancing act. Acceptance of its ups and downs provides a sense of peace. Sure I might be up in the moment, but I recognize I won’t always be. There is a constant cycle. Acceptance of life’s duality makes me a wiser person because it helps me to not judge myself so harshly. It helps me to see that EVERYTHING can be something that I can learn and grow from (even if its something that I feel is painful at the time, or “bad”). The realisation of this helps me to go into whatever’s next with a sense of wonder.

I only look forward and with that I have gained wisdom and joy
