Mahatma Gandhi
💬 QUOTE

Satisfaction lies in the effort, not in the attainment. Full effort is full victory.

– Mahatma Gandhi, a leader known for his nonviolent resistance, believed deeply in the value of effort and perseverance. His philosophy encourages us to find fulfillment in our diligent work, rather than focusing solely on outcomes.

Science
🧬 SCIENCE

Research shows that greatness comes more from consistent, deliberate practice than from innate talent. This type of practice involves targeted efforts to improve, reaching beyond current capabilities, and involves high repetition. Elite performers practice consistently, even on weekends, demonstrating that diligence is key to success.

The difference between those who achieve their performance goals and those who don’t is a consistent period of deliberate effort to improve performance in that specific domain.

Healthy Habit
🧘 HEALTHY HABIT

Double Down on Your Health Goal.

Reflect on your 30-day Health Goal from Day 2:

  • Is it still relevant? If not, revise it to something exciting.
  • Reflect on your progress. Celebrate every step forward.

💡 Questions to reflect on:

  • What has been the biggest barrier to your progress?
  • What has helped you the most to work hard?
  • What have you learned about yourself during this journey?
  • What have you enjoyed the most?

  1. What has helped me achieve my goals these weeks is the support and example of my husband. We don’t talk about my issues because he knows it still upsets me and may cause relapse but being with him 24/7 on vacation has brought us closer and it calms me knowing I have his support.

  2. Keeping a journal. I just love writing. And it seems to get my mind perked up and ready when I do it in the morning. Plus it’s a great way to keep track of my workouts and progress.

  3. I really cannot say other than pray. I do that daily and I make a habit of it, now it is like taking a breath. There are so many parts of my life that I want to change, improve, move away from or toward. I’m not sure why I am finding most things difficult to do. Maybe today is just a day in which so much good has come out of it, and so many blessing, yet I know I need to make changes that I run away from. Stamping my feet like a little girl seems to be right about now.

  4. Bring to mind something that you have become very consistent with spending daily time working on.
… For me, everything has come back to the power of just bring present. Focusing on the present moment, and letting go of everything else.

What is it about that activity which has inspired you to be consistent and diligent with it? It’s hard to answer this, but I’ve found that when I’m not in the moment… I’m getting in my own way. I allow myself to get stressed, to worry about unnecessary things, to not just be. What’s inspired me to be consistent is the way that I feel when I let all of that stupid sh*t go and just focus on being right here, right now.

  5. For me, it’s backwards: a slip in consistency is my best inspiration at this point. For 20 days, I made good headway at creating consistency toward my goals from Week 2. They remain firm re food choices, quantities, and activity goals. …Yet at the 3-week mark, I notice some less healthy habits sneaking back in.
My BARRIER has been a combo of ‘forgetting’ and ‘delaying’. Tracking helped, but even that has slacked off a bit the past few days. Daily accountability has been the most help.
I have re-learned that I do well when I am accountable to myself in a shared community, and less well when seeking to change on my own.
My BEST consistency is on being aware of my goals and of noticing all effects of my efforts, though, so that the rewards are as psychologically valuable as they are physically beneficial.
This Day 22 review and re:assessment inspires me to return to careful tracking and habit-creating after a couple of days of little slips. Luckily, these are easy to catch and correct, and rebooting is my guiding Intention for this upcoming final week of our course!
I have enjoyed Matt’s videos, the colourful design and wise webpages, and the excellent questions posed for us to journal upon and share.
It’s also great to read the posts of fellow travellers!

  6. Exercise! It started first with my doctor telling me I needed to do it everyday. I couldn’t even do one push-up! I’m so grateful that this has become a habit now. I love running, XC skiing pretty much everything now. It brings such a sense of well being and joy!

  7. Currently I am doing two different health challenges and an online mandala class. I also meditate at least once a day.
My health is important to me (physical, emotional and spiritual).
