🌎 BLUE ZONE INSPIRATION

Water from the Blue Zone of Nicoya has the country’s highest calcium and magnesium content, with a higher-than-average pH balance. This unique composition might explain why Nicoya’s residents have lower rates of heart disease, stronger bones, and fewer hip fractures. Drinking water with such beneficial minerals can significantly impact our health and longevity.

After saturating Costa Rica’s old-growth forests, rainfall seeps through layers of porous volcanic rock that filters and mineralizes the water. It finally collects in an aquifer over 100 feet below the rainforest.

💬 QUOTE

“Water, the Hub of Life. Water is its mater and matrix, mother and medium. Water is the most extraordinary substance! Practically all its properties are anomalous, which enabled life to use it as building material for its machinery. Life is water dancing to the tune of solids.”

– Albert Szent-Gyorgyi, a Nobel Prize-winning physiologist, discovered vitamin C and the components and reactions of the citric acid cycle, also known as the Krebs cycle.

While the calculator provides a useful guideline, it should be used as a general estimation rather than a precise measurement. Personal hydration needs can vary widely based on individual circumstances.

Pro tip: If you haven’t already, commit to a long-term relationship with a reusable water bottle. Choose a bottle you can envision yourself using even when you’re 100 years old. Keep it filled up and close by as often as possible.

  1. I don’t have a lot of problems drinking… however because I used to struggle with incontinence… I worked with the local incontinence team…. I used to think if I didn’t drink before I went out I wouldn’t need to go… but then I would end up feeling crappy and also it never seemed to go as planned. The nurse explained why… If we don’t drink enough our urine is strong and irritates the bladder… and makes us go more… just in much smaller amounts which is no good for us. I’ve been drinking lots more since and find as long as I don’t drink gallons at a time I actually go less often and just more… who knew!?!?! 🙂

  2. I used to really dislike water and it was a chore to drink it. Now I have almost completely cut soda out and drink only flavored water. No sugar added. I also invested in a Spring water bottle from the Bella Leaf company. It syncs with my activity Leaf. I think it is helping but it is still tough to drink the amount that is suggested.

  3. I don’t drink enough water when I am away from home running errands because I don’t want to use public restrooms! At work and at home though, I drink plenty.

    • This is how I used to feel too x but as I commented above… I’ve come a long way! 🙂 I now carry bleach wipes and clean before use! And I feel better for it! 🙂

  4. Drink water as soon as get up , then after breakfast drink more , and continue this new routine. I will carry a water bottle with me . I have a sluggish disgestive system so once I cut out the rubbish I should be feeling better

  5. This is definitely going to be a challenge. I am used to drinking 32 oz per day and all of it at work. I don’t hardly drink anything once I’m at home. Our water is nasty. I need to be drinking triple that amount. The challenge is going to be the bathroom visits! I am a teacher and everything in my day is timed to a bell. I can’t just go to the bathroom when the urge hits. Thank goodness this is a three day weekend – hopefully I can adjust my excretory system to this new volume in that amount of time 🙂 Off to purchase massive amounts of water from the store. . . and maybe some Depends for Tuesday – just in case.

    • Awww bless you! Don’t panic. You will learn to time accordingly. If you drink larger amounts at once, it will wash through your system in about an hour or so… you will learn to time it! 🙂 That said drinking large amounts all at once always is no way to go either. Bottle your work water and take it home. Its free! 🙂 YAY YOU! 🙂

  6. I suck at drinking water, so I would be what keeps me from drinking water. I’m super good at drinking coffee, which I now understand dehydrates me. I do have a good water bottle which holds 24 oz. of water. Um, I rarely make it through drinking one bottle a day (and I’ve thought I was pretty cool when I’ve accomplished that). So after navigating through Day 11, I am going to make it my intention to fill my bottle up first thing in the morning and drink more water, less coffee.

  7. I drink a great deal of water. I drink it when I wake up in the morning, if I wake up at night, which I do since I drink so much water. I have a bottle next to me, a few in my car, and a glass I fill up when I want more. I rarely drink anything other than coffee, once in a great while I will “splurge” and have a caffeine free diet coke. But that happens maybe once a month. I do love coffee, but not as much as water.

    • I thought I would die when the doctor told me I had to give up fizzy drinks… that was 7 years ago and I haven’t looked back… I’ve tried it a few time… sipped my hubbys coke whatever.. .but it makes me feel sick… so now if I fancy something like rootbeer or something… I have acquired a cordial and I mix it with still water and enjoy… only very occasionally. I have cut sugar and thus just drink water! 🙂 But every once in a great while its nice to have something I used to enjoy! 🙂

  8. Got this!! Having a bottle of water at hand almost always is a well-established habit dating back to my youth. I simply feel better when I can top up my system at will. As an aging human on daily medication, I find it even more valuable to my well-being. My trusty water bottle is a more constant companion than even my mobile phone.

    • I love this x It is a habit I’ve been developing as well due to medication use. Otherwise I end up constipated… sometimes the opposite… water does a body good for sure! 🙂 Love this intention! 🙂 Onward and upward x
