Today, let's create an effective vision that will clarify our next best adventurous steps.
Vision serves as a launch pad from which the rest of our adventure will evolve.
The clearer we can visualize and imagine our adventure, the better we can prepare ourselves, acquire the necessary support, and manifest ideal outcomes. As we craft an effective adventurous vision for ourselves today, notice any identify long-term and short-term goals, strategies, and tactics that arise.
In the next few minutes, we will create a measurable vision that enables us to track our progress, course-correct, and double down as inspired. 😃🚀
Our vision serves as the engine that drives our strategy, and, ultimately, the overall success of our adventure.
- First, let's articulate the vision of our adventure in a realistic statement of aspiration based on where we are today and where we see ourselves in the future. It's helpful to be practical, specific, and targeted to generate the most value from our journey.
- Second, let's create a time frame around our vision statement. This is important in order to identify long-term and short-term goals, strategies, and tactics.
- And third, let's create a measurable vision that enables us to track our progress.
Here's an example using the adventure of my hike on the Oregon Coast Trail:
Weak vision: To hike the Oregon Coast Trail.
This vision statement is too vague and without a timeline.
Strong vision: To southbound the Oregon Coast Trail before winter in week-long sections.
This vision statement is practical and specific. It provides a focus within a specific time frame. It is a long-term goal that can be measured and adjusted if necessary.
Write down a vision statement for the adventure you've chosen.
There is tremendous power in choosing words to embody our adventure. More so, in putting it in writing. It need not be perfect. Our vision will likely change as we begin to take action and evolve ourselves. So let's not allow the resistance of perfectionism to prevent us from writing down anything at all.
