PURE – HEALTHY HABITS

Today, eliminate a harmful toxin from your environment.

Toxic chemicals are evermore present. They now live in tap water, in the cosmetics we smear on our skin, sprayed on the foods we eat, and float around in the air we breathe. Unfortunately, most are silent killers that are taking their toll on our health without a trace to the source.

Clean air and simple eating is a basic requirement for a healthy living.

So in honor of today being Day 19 in our 30 Days of Health Series, here are 19 ways you can put more intention into avoid harmful toxins and chemicals that pull you away from your innately pure self:

  1. Purify your water. Clean, mineral-rich water is one of the primary reasons residence of the Blue Zones are living longer than everyone else.
  2. Eat organic. The easiest and perhaps most harmful way to ingest toxic chemicals are the unregulated sprays and additives that are put direct in and on non-organic foods.
  3. Avoid ‘The Scary Seven’. (1) High-Fructose Corn Syrup (2) Monosodium Glutamate, MSG (3) Partially Hydrogenated Oils (4) Artificial Colors like Blue 2, Yellow 6, Red 40 (5) Artificial Sweeteners like sucralose , and aspartame (6) Artificial Flavors (7) Preservatives like sodium benzoate, sulphites, polysorbat, nitrites, and nitrates.
  4. Keep insects away naturally. If a squirt of it will make a mosquito drop, chances are putting DEET and other ‘toxic soup’ on your skin don’t be healthy for you as it gets absorbed into your bloodstream.
  5. Swap out fake sugar. Artificial sweeteners contain loads of chemical which are harmful to your health. Try using stevia, which is deliciously sweet plant that doesn’t damage your health.
  6. Opt-out of fake fragrances. Perfumed candles and fragrance sprays contain harsh chemicals that are harmful to breathe in.
  7. Leave your shoes at the door. Who knows what you’ve been walking in out there. By treading those unknowns into your house, they will be picked up by anything else that touches those trodden areas.
  8. Create some airflow. Let some fresh air in to waft away any stale air.
  9. Create clean indoor air. If opening your window doesn’t bring in the freshest of air perhaps due to a busy street, try bringing a beeswax candle, salt lamp or bamboo charcoal indoors to help rid the air of harmful toxins.
  10. Let nature cleanse. As we learned over the last couple days, nature is the the most effective healther. Try to have a purifying plant like a garden mum or ficus in each room of your house.
  11. Read the labels. If you can’t pronounce the ingredient it because the name looks like some sort of lab experiment, then it probably was. Better safe than sorry is a good rule when it comes to ingredients we invite into our home and shmere on our body.
  12. Track it to the source. Done deal if it has an ingredient list, but some products might require a little digging to understand what exactly it's made of and how it effects your environment.
  13. Clean with clean products. Cleaning products are often loaded with toxic chemicals because they kill 99.99% of germs. Which means they’re likely killing 99.99% of other healthy bacteria and microbes our body needs.
  14. Swap plastic for glass. Plastics are one of the biggest mediums for bringing toxic chemicals in our daily lives. Glass is a safer, more environmentally friendly food storage option which don’t contain the toxic chemicals that plastics do.
  15. Stay away from air fresheners. Is Febreze worth that synthetic lavidar scent if it ends up costing you thousands of dollars and multiple years of your life in health damages. That may have sounded dramatic, but it adds up quick.
  16. Get hip on the latest. If you start reading and learning about living a toxin-free life, you will be more likely to take action.
  17. Ditch your toxic cosmetics. Next time you look at your beautifully raw self in the bathroom mirror, remember this: when we apply something on our skin, it is quickly absorbed into our bloodstream and circulated through vital organs like our heart and brain.
  18. Check your walls for toxins. Finding silent killers like mold with a simple inspection might just save you and everyone you invite into your house severe adverse reactions.
  19. Prioritize your health above all. Since you’re reading this. Chances are you realize without our health, we have nothing. Holding fast to this fact will help us bring more awareness to the harmful chemicals present in our environment and will take action to preventive action to steer clear from toxins.
