Today, letโs use patience as an act of self-love while exploring the difference between intellectual and visceral experiences.

For me – the first thing that comes to mind for intellectual vs. embodied understanding is God.
To have an intellectual conversation about God and what that looks like for someone is completely and totally different than having an embodied understanding of God and what that looks like/feels like for you.
In many ways, I don’t think i could even put into words what the latter is like.
I guess I would define it as thinking with my brain vs feeling with my heart. Logically I can define what the best course of action should be for a problem that I have. But emotionally I canโt move forward.
I never noticed before that unhappy thoughts and feelings are the ones we make ourselves and that happy thoughts and feelings occur naturally. At first I didn’t think it would apply to me, because I then to think negatively quite often with accompanying feelings. But as time past and I kept telling myself to let those thoughts and feelings go I really did feel a difference. Not that it works all the time, but I have noticed I feel a lot more positive.
It is my perspective and Faith and being content
I still feel as if the mind is strong enough to dictate to your feelings what is expected. I want to change that for me to make my choice based on what is best for me even when it may be totally different from what I normally would do in my life.
I always thought that it was the same difference between hearing someone and actually listening to them. One requires you to understand something and the other demands that you actually think about it, whether you understand it or not.
For me, I think my subject is myths and legends. I know practically all of them, which many would say is an intellectual understanding. But I also try to learn and understand the lessons and truth that can be found in each one. They’re not just stories, they’re lessons from the past.
Forgiveness. I can understand very well the benefits of forgiveness, but it is not easy to let it go the sense of unfairness, angry, and the hurt feeling. For me is difficult to overcome these feelings.
I definitely rely more on my intellectual understanding of things! But I can tell the difference when I’m actually living what I know. I’m more calm and relaxed and confident and…all the things I want to be. Sometimes I view it as turning off the monkey mind and just being. And those are the days where I feel more satisfied and happy with where I am in life..and love.
