Clutter creates stress that has three major biological and neurological effects on usโ€”our cortisol levels, our creativity and ability to focus, and our experience of pain.

Before we start getting rid of things that no longer inspire and serve us, it helps to understand what is motivating us to make this profound lifestyle adjustment.

Take a few minutes to answer this question for yourself,

โ€œWhat might I gain by decluttering my environment?โ€

Example: โ€œFreedom, mental clarity, healthier habits, consistent routines, more peace, joy, happiness, gratitude, space for what I donโ€™t know I need to enter.โ€

Keep asking this question until you come to find your own realizations about why decluttering your environment is so important to you.

Then create a concise action statement declaring why decluttering your life is important to you.

Example: โ€œDecluttering is important to me because I want to create more physical, mental and spiritual space for growth.โ€

  1. What inspired me about today’s intention was getting connected to the fact that literally everything I own or I have near me affects me. As I become more in-tune with myself and with my environment, this sensitivity seems to increase. It makes me excited to start down this path again and work on clearing out my space.

  2. Its Okay to get rid of un used or unnecessary belongings ! I breathe better and it also makes room for new things in my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. What inspired me about this first day of decluttering was how the more clear I am on my intentions and goals, the better I can interact with my belongings which helps me understand which belongings support me in my goals verses which belongings needlessly weigh me down. I can see now that the more I surround myself with those things that are aligned with my deepest intentions and goals, the more likely I am to grow in that direction and shed off those unnecessary layers.

  4. What today inspired me is the fact that it is okay to throw away things that are not as important considering other items which i have a hard time tidying up from because i really like having things hhehehe ๐Ÿ™‚

    • I like to see but I acquire more than I get done. My clutter cost me money and I am determined not to throw any more away. I am going to sell them or worst scenario Christmas gifts.
